SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA – A man was killed in a head-on collision on Wildcat Canyon Road at Casa de Carol on Tuesday afternoon. According to the California Highway Patrol, the man has been identified as a 36-year-old man from San Diego. His name and other information about his identity are not yet available to the public. The collision that killed the man was reported at 12:45 p.m.
The driver of a 2004 Chevrolet pickup crossed over the center line of the road and into oncoming traffic. He then crashed into another pickup truck. That second truck was pushed off the roadway before coming to rest on a dirt embankment. That driver was not wearing his seatbelt at the time. Authorities were called to the scene but it was too late for the driver of the second truck. He was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
The collision is still under investigation by the CHP. No arrests have yet been made. CHP Officer Brian Pennings said there was no evidence that drugs or alcohol were factors in the collision. Wildcat Canyon Road was temporarily closed for cleanup and investigation following the accident.
