MIRAMAR, CALIFORNIA – It has been brought to the attention of our San Diego wrongful death lawyers that a 38-year-old man was killed Tuesday at the Miramar Landfill when he was trapped under the bin of a dump truck he had been driving, according to authorities. Around 11 a.m., the man finished dumping a load of an unknown type of garbage when he apparently drove away without at first noticing that the bin of the Dodge 3500 was still in the up position. According to Jose Ysea, a public information officer with San Diego’s Environmental Services Department, the man may have crawled in the space between the cab and the bin to fix the problem.
When he did so, the bin fell and pinned him to the chassis. Landfill employees lifted the bin and performed CPR. When paramedics arrived a short time later, they also unsuccessfully tried to resuscitate the man. According to the Medical Examiner’s Office, the death has officially been ruled an accident. Our California accident lawyers do not know the name of the man, as his identity is being withheld from the press until his family is notified.
