ENCINITAS, CALIFORNIA – A 48-year-old man from Encinitas was hit by a car while crossing Encinitas Boulevard near Oakcrest Park around 8 a.m. Saturday morning. The man entered the street to help a stranded motorist. He was then hit by Chevrolet Caprice that was driving eastbound at the time.
According to Sheriff’s Deputy Steven Magwood, the man was taken directly to the hospital after he was struck. Sadly, he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival. His name has not yet been released. The driver of the Caprice was also an Encinitas resident. He was not injured in the accident. The condition of the initial stranded motorist and his car are unknown. Investigators are working to decide whether to recommend charges be brought against the driver of the Caprice.
This tragic accident killed someone who was trying to be a Good Samaritan at the time.
