SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA – Two people were killed in a vehicle accident off Interstate 15 Monday night. A witness told the California Highway Patrol that one tire of an SUV blew out on northbound I-15 near Deer Springs Road around 6:30 p.m. The tire blowout caused the driver of the SUV to lose control of the vehicle and careen off the freeway and down an embankment.
The vehicle finally came to rest near the intersection of Champagne Boulevard and Mountain Meadow Road, just east of the freeway. Two occupants of the SUV were killed in the accident. Their identities were not immediately available. A third person survived the crash. However, that person’s condition was not available to the California Highway Patrol.
