SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA – Four adults and four children were evacuated from two different apartments in Clairemont after an SUV crashed into their unit. The woman driving the SUV lives in the unit above the units she crashed through. The woman appeared to be parking her GMC Envoy around 12:20 p.m. at the building on Clairemont Mesa Boulevard when she crashed through the wall of the home, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department spokesman Lee Swanson.
The SUV ended up inside a child’s bedroom. Luckily, the people in the unit were all in the front room at the time of the accident. No one was injured. After the accident, the gas and electricity were turned off to both apartments. The Red Cross was called to assist the families in the units. The Fire-Rescue Department and Engineers are currently evaluating the structural integrity of the building. Officers with the San Diego Police traffic division are investigating why the woman initially crashed into the building.
