SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA – A pedestrian was killed in an unincorporated area of El Cajon on Saturday night. The 35-year-old woman was walking west on Pepper Drive at Somerlane Street at around 9:20 p.m. She was struck by a suspected drunk driver in a full-size Dodge pickup heading east that had veered into the shoulder, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The truck subsequently hit many mailboxes and a parked Ford Ranger pickup, went through two front yards and crashed through a fence before eventually hitting a house and coming to rest. The driver, 51-year-old Deborah Felix, got out and ran but was caught by witnesses. They held her until authorities arrived. The victim was airlifted to the hospital where she underwent surgery. Sadly, she died shortly before midnight. Her name has not yet been released. Felix was also taken to the hospital but then she was later arrested. She faces many felony charges.
