SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA- Several people were injured in a boating accident which involved a Coast Guard vessel during the San Diego Bay Parade of Lights Sunday night. According to Maurice Luque, spokesman for the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department, one of the injured people was a child who was later treated at Harbor Hospital. Paramedics performed CPR on the child before taking him to the hospital by ambulance.
An additional four people were injured and subsequently treated at Shelter Island before being taken to the hospital by ambulance. Two more people ended up on Shelter Island with injuries but were able to be treated at the scene and did not have to be taken to the hospital. Authorities are currently investigating the causes of the accident. Initial reports indicate that a Coast Guard vessel hit a civilian boat during the parade of lights. There were 13 people total aboard both boats at the time and everyone has been accounted for.
