VISTA, CALIFORNIA – A week after a teenaged skateboarder was killed in a hit-and-run accident, a second teen on a skateboard was injured after being hit by a car in Vista. Fire and sheriff’s officials responded to the accident around 4:20 p.m. Friday. It occurred near the intersection of Cedar Road and West Vista Way in Vista and involved a vehicle and an 18-year-old skateboarder.
The driver was a 27-year-old Oceanside man who was headed north on Cedar Road when the skateboarder veered into the roadway. The driver reported that he tired to stop but he was unable to do so. The teen suffered two broken legs and facial cuts. He was taken to the hospital for treatment. On January 29, Lucas Gianconelli of Vista was struck and killed around 7 p.m. on Thibodo Road near Edna way. He was 15 years old. An elderly man is the suspected driver in the accident.
It is unclear who was responsible for this injury accident. Regardless of the fault, we wish the skateboarder a full recovery from his injuries.
