SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA – A sailor assigned to the Navy aircraft carrier Ronald Reagan died in an electrical accident aboard the ship Friday afternoon. The Reagan is currently undergoing repairs at North Island Naval Air Station. The sailor was taken by ambulance to Sharp Coronado Hospital. He died there around 2:30 p.m., according to Navy officials.
The sailor has been identified as Electrician’s Mate Chief John G. Conyers of San Diego. Conyers was 36 years old and an 11 year Navy veteran. He suffered a severe electrical shock in the accident. He is survived by his wife and daughter. The Navy is currently investigating the cause of the accident.
