LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA – Authorities are trying to determine what caused a fatal big rig collision on the 710 Freeway in East Los Angeles. The accident occurred Monday night just before 9:30 p.m. just north of Slauson Avenue. The accident started when a big rig rear-ended a Honda Civic in the northbound lanes.
The truck then overturned and the Civic spun out of control. The car suffered major damage and trapped the woman inside. The Los Angeles County Fire Department officials pronounced the woman dead at the scene, according to Sergeant Jerry Espinoza of the California Highway Patrol. The driver of the big rig has treated for minor injuries at White Memorial Hospital.
