BRENTWOOD, CALIFORNIA – Police searched Friday for two cars after 13-year-old Julia Siegler was struck and killed while crossing the street on her way to school. The girl was with her mother was she crossed Sunset Boulevard around 7:20 a.m. She was heading south near Cliffwood Drive, according to Andy Smith of the Los Angeles Police Department.
She was running to catch a bus at the time of the accident when she was hit by a gray late model two door SLK Mercedes- Benz turning right on Sunset Boulevard. The girl’s mother pounded on the hood of the car with her fists and screamed. A black, four door Toyota made a turn directly after the Mercedes but the Police are unsure whether it also hit the girl. The Toyota was carrying four passengers and the driver pulled to the curb and talked to the girl’s mother. Both cars involved left the scene before Police arrived.
About 60 students were reportedly on the bus Julia was trying to catch when she was struck. She was taken to UCLA Medical Center where she died. Classes were canceled at Harvard-Westlake middle school where she had been a student after the accident.
