POMONA, CALIFORNIA – A 4-year-old girl was in serious condition Monday after she was bitten by a pit bull at her uncle’s home in Pomona. The child startled the dog while it was sleeping, according to Pomona Police Department officials. The dog suddenly woke up and bit the child’s face. Police said the dog was not licensed but did have a current rabies vaccination.
The girl had just come to the home in the 1600 block of East Kingsley Avenue to visit her uncle just before 3 p.m. She was treated at Loma Linda Medical Center after the incident. The dog was taken into custody as a potential danger to humans. The incident is currently being investigated by the Pomona Valley Humane Society.
