SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA – A passenger in a minivan was killed Sunday afternoon in an accident north of Lakeside in Wildcat Canyon Road. The accident involved a 2004 Ford F-150 and a 1994 Plymouth Voyager. It was reported around 12:30 p.m. just south of Muth Valley Road not far from Barona Casino, according to California Highway Patrol Officials.

Witnesses said the Ford’s driver was speeding on a wet road around 12:20 p.m. when he lost control, veered into oncoming traffic and hit the Plymouth head on. The Ford’s driver and his son, who were both wearing seatbelts were not injured. The driver of the minivan was taken to the hospital for treatment of moderate injuries. Her 62-year-old passenger died at the scene. Officers believe the passenger, whose identity has not yet been released, was not wearing a seatbelt. The road was closed in both directions for investigation following the accident.
