SAN MARCOS, CALIFORNIA – A 9-year-old boy was seriously injured when he was hit by a pickup truck in front of a fast food restaurant on Wednesday. The boy was hit by the truck just before 3 p.m. as he was crossing South Rancho Santa Fe Road near Descano Avenue, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

The driver of the truck stayed at the accident scene after he hit the child. He was traveling south prior to striking the boy. The boy was flown by helicopter to Rady Children’s Hospital. He is being treated for serious head injuries. He has not yet been identified. Deputies are investigating the accident.
