SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA – 29-year-old Virginia Ortega was hit and killed by a tour bus in the Marina district. She stepped in front of the bus at West Harbor Drive and Pacific Highway around 4:40 p.m. on Thursday, according to San Diego Police Officer David Stafford.
She was taken to the UCSD Medical Center. According to the Medical Examiner’s Office, Ortega died in surgery at 9:30 p.m. No one on the tour bus was injured in the accident. Some passengers claimed Ortega crossed in an area that has warning signs that pedestrians should not cross there. Ortega was single and lived in Arizona. She was in San Diego visiting family at the time of the accident.
