SAN DIMAS, CALIFORNIA- A small plane landed on the northbound 57 Freeway near San Dimas Wednesday night. The plane made an emergency landing around 7 p.m. near the junction of the 57 and 10 freeways, according to the California Highway Patrol. Two lanes of the northbound 57 were closed following the accident. There were no injuries yet reported.
According to a preliminary report from the Federal Aviation Administartion, the Champion Citabria plane was carrying only the pilot at the time of the accident. He reported an engine problem to air traffic controllers at Brackett Field in La Verne. The plane had been heading to Cable Airport in Upland when it had to make the emergency landing.
After any plane accident of any kind, the Federal Aviation Administration will conduct a full investigation into the causes and any potential fault.
