SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA – A woman killed after she was in a collision with a truck driven by a Border Patrol agent last week has been identified as Maria De Jesus Macias. De Jesus Macias was 47 years old and was from Chula Vista. She was traveling east on Otay Lakes Road Wednesday just after 8 a.m. and was about one mile east of the Lower Otay Reservoir when she drifted to the right during a curve.
De Jesus Macias then overcorrected and crossed into the westbound lanes. Her Nissan Sentra was broadsided by a Ford F-250 patrol vehicle, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Art Athans. De Jesus Macias died of multiple blunt force trauma injuries, according to the Medical Examiner’s Office. The agent suffered minor injuries and was treated at the hospital. The agent’s identity has not yet been released.
