SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA – A young woman was seriously injured north of Ramona on Tuesday morning after a head on collision with an SUV. The woman was heading east on state Route 78 in a 2000 white Toyota four door vehicle around 5:40 a.m. She was just west of Haverford Road when she crossed the double-yellow lines for unknown reasons, according to San Diego Police Sergeant Jeff Reschke. The woman may have had sun in her eyes and not have realized there was a curve in the road.
When she crossed the line, she collided with a west-bound Ford Explorer that was carrying two people. The woman had to be extricated from the car. Paramedics performed CPR at the scene and transported her to the hospital. The man and the woman in the SUV did not appear to be injured. Authorities issued a traffic alert following the accident until approximately 11 a.m.
