SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA- Four lanes of the south Interstate 5 in Carmel Valley were shut down Monday for about a half hour following an accident. The accident, reported just after 5:30 a.m., involved a vehicle carrying five-gallon buckets. It occurred just south of Carmel Valley Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The buckets in the truck had been filled with drywall material. The material spilled in the accident and was strewn across all lanes of the highway. They were subsequently retrieved and moved to the right shoulder of the road. All lanes were re-opened around 6 a.m. It was not immediately clear what caused the accident or whether anyone was injured.
Fortunately, this accident seems to have been cleared with minimal problems. Many highway accidents do not end with this kind of result. Many people are injured and others are killed on California’s freeways every year. If you have been injured or lost a loved one in an accident caused by a reckless or negligent driver, you may be able to recover for your losses.
