EL DORADO COUNTY, CALIFORNIA- El Dorado Animal Services is currently looking for the owners of dogs involved in two separate dog bite incidents in the past week. A man visiting a friend in Georgetown on Sunday was at Volcanoville and Cassill Mine roads when a loose dog emerged from the bushes and attacked the man’s dog. The Health Services Department news release said the man was bitten as he tried to defend his dog. The dog who bit the man was described as a male pit bull with white and tan coloring. The dog was wearing a dark fabric collar without tags. It weighs about 80 pounds. The dog ran off after the altercation and no owner came forward.
Animal Services officials are also looking for the owners of two dogs involved in an incident that occurred last Tuesday in South Lake Tahoe. A man who was walking near the entrance of the Tahoe Conservancy, at the end of Venice Drive, encountered two dogs fighting. The man attempted to break up the fight and was bitten by one or both dogs. One dog was described as a smaller shepherd mix with black, tan, and white coloring. The other dog was described as a medium sized chocolate lab mix. The dogs were on leashes with their owners at the time but no contact information was exchanged. Animal Services officers would like to speak to the dog owners in both incidents to verify the animals are current in their rabies vaccinations.
All dog owners are responsible for their animals, especially when they are in public places. If you have been injured by someone else’s pet, that person may be held liable to pay for your medical expenses, lost wages, and sometimes pain and suffering.
